Seat Altea Diesel rough idle and jerking

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2006 Seat Altea diesel. The check engine light came on, and the engine is running really rough, especially when idling. It even stalls sometimes. Also, I'm experiencing some jerking when accelerating. I read somewhere that it could be a defective fuel pressure sensor, maybe a loose cable or something. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hey! I had a similar problem with my Altea a while ago. Check engine light was on, and the engine was running really rough, especially at idle. It felt like it was about to stall. Does it also happen while accelerating, like an engine misfire?

Yes, that's exactly what's happening! It feels like an engine misfire when accelerating, and the rough idle is driving me crazy. What was the issue with your Altea? And what did you do to fix it? When you say 'engine misfire', do you mean the engine briefly loses power? I am not very good with technical terms.

Okay, so it sounds very similar to what I had. The garage diagnosed it as a faulty fuel pressure sensor due to a bad connection. The 'engine misfire' feeling is when one or more cylinders in your engine aren't firing properly, causing that jerking sensation. I'd recommend getting the sensor and its wiring checked out by a mechanic. Could be a simple fix, but it's best to be sure. Don't keep driving it like that!

Just to let you know, I took it to the workshop. It was a bad connection to the fuel pressure sensor, like you thought! They cleaned the contacts and replaced the plug. The check engine light is off, and the engine is running smoothly. The repair was 95€ Thanks again for your help!
