Seat Altea engine issues after fuel filter change

I'm experiencing issues with my 2009 Seat Altea, gasoline engine, with approximately 194940 km on the clock. The check engine light is illuminated, the engine stalls when idling, and overall engine power is significantly reduced. I suspect a defective fuel pressure regulator. Could this be related to a recent fuel filter replacement?

I had a similar problem with my Altea. The engine would misfire, especially at idle, and the check engine light was on. Have you checked the fuel pressure sensor? It might be faulty, causing the fuel regulator to act up.

Where is the fuel pressure sensor located? And would a faulty fuel pump cause the same symptoms? I'm trying to narrow down the possibilities before taking it in.

Yes, a faulty fuel pump can cause similar symptoms. The fuel pressure sensor is usually located on the fuel rail. However, given the symptoms, and especially if it happened right after the fuel filter change, I'd suggest checking the sensor first, or getting it checked by a professional. It could be a simple fix.

I replaced the fuel pressure sensor as suggested. The check engine light is now off, the engine no longer stalls, and the power is back. The sensor was 45€. I think the error code was triggered when I changed the fuel filter recently. Thanks for the help.
