Seat Altea Engine Overheating Issue

Seat Altea 2010 gasoline engine, 184176 km. Engine overheating. Check engine light illuminated. Radiator fan not functioning as expected. Suspect a defective speed sensor. Anyone experienced similar?

Car overheating is never a good sign! Is the fan noise excessive or absent altogether? Had a similar car overheating issue with my old Renault Megane. Turned out to be a faulty temperature control unit messing with the fan speed. Is your check engine light on?

Temperature control unit? Can you elaborate? Where is it located and what was the exact issue? Is the fan blade supposed to be always running?

On the Megane, the temp control unit was near the radiator. It was sending wrong signals, so the fan wasn't kicking in when it should. Result? Car overheating. I wouldn't know if the fan blade is always running on your Altea. Best to get it checked by a workshop.

Confirmed resolution. Defective speed sensor. New sensor installed, total cost 250€. Cooling system now operating within normal parameters. Thanks.
