Seat Altea engine stalls at idle

I am experiencing some trouble with my 2006 Seat Altea with a gasoline engine. The check engine light illuminated, and the error memory indicates a problem. The engine stalls at idle, which is quite concerning. Could this be related to a bad idle air control valve?

The stalling engine and check engine light sound familiar. I had similar issues with my old Renault Megane. Did you check the air valve or consider any issues with idle control? Could it be a dirty throttle body?

You mention a dirty throttle body. Is it difficult to clean, or could it be something else related to the IAC valve?

Cleaning the throttle body can be a DIY job, but if the problem persists, it's probably best to get the IAC valve checked professionally. In my case, the error was indeed the idle control. Is it worth risking further damage to save a few euros?

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It turned out to be a heavily contaminated intake due to a faulty IAC valve, also known as the idle air control valve. The stalling engine and check engine light were spot on. The repair cost me 425€, but at least the idle speed is stable now and the error is gone.
