Seat Altea error codes and potential recoding

My 2015 Seat Altea with a gasoline engine is throwing some error codes. I've got 177979 km on the clock. The malfunction indicator is illuminated, and I'm getting error messages on both the infotainment system and the speedometer display. I've run a diagnostic scanner and it points towards an incorrect vehicle coding. Before I dive deeper, I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced similar issues. I'm leaning towards a recoding as the solution, but it seems extreme. Has anyone had to reset codes due to potential coding issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Seat Altea with a gasoline engine and 177,979 km was experiencing error codes, with the malfunction indicator illuminated and messages on the infotainment and speedometer displays. A diagnostic scan suggested incorrect vehicle coding as the cause. After consulting with others, the owner took the car to a workshop specializing in vehicle electronics, where the modules were recoded, resolving the issue by clearing all error codes and turning off the malfunction indicator.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Incorrect coding causing that many issues seems a bit odd, doesn't it? Have you recently had any work done on the car's electrical system or had the battery disconnected for an extended period? Did you use the diagnostic scanner yourself, or a workshop?

That's a fair point. No recent electrical work or battery disconnection. I used my own diagnostic scanner, a fairly decent one. What makes you question the coding aspect? Is there something specific about Alteas that makes them less prone to coding errors?

Okay, if you're sure about the scan tool data pointing to coding, it's possible. But honestly, I'd still get a second opinion before committing to recoding. It's not the most common thing, but not unheard of either. Seeing errors in multiple systems makes me lean towards some kind of central issue, maybe corruption. Get a professional diagnostic scan done, then you'll know for sure.

Took the Altea to a workshop specializing in vehicle electronics. My initial assessment regarding the coding was spot on. They recoded the relevant modules, cleared all the error codes, and performed a thorough system check. The malfunction indicator is now off, and the error messages are gone. Total cost came to 360€. Thanks for confirming my suspicions about the coding being the likely culprit.
