Seat Altea Fuel Flap Issue

I am experiencing an issue with my 2012 Seat Altea's fuel flap, it has a gasoline engine. Lately, I haven't been able to open the fuel flap. It seems the locking or unlocking is no longer possible. Is this a common problem Has anyone else experienced something similar

Strange issue I recall reading about similar fuel flap problems on Alteas. Has the cable release been checked The release mechanism might be stuck. Is there any error showing on the dashboard, or when the car is scanned

Since you have the error and aren't comfortable checking the cable release, I'd say it’s best to take it to a workshop. The electric actuator is likely the culprit. If the linkage is defective, that would cause the problem. I hope you will get it fixed

Thanks for the quick reply I'm not really a car expert, so I'm not sure how to check the cable release myself. Is this something I should be able to see easily Yes, there is an error stored in the error memory and other functions of the vehicle are not available.

Took the Altea to a workshop as suggested. The electric actuator on the fuel flap had failed. The repair cost 210€, including parts and labor. Everything's working now. Thanks again for the help.
