Seat Altea Multifunction Steering Wheel Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Seat Altea owner reported that the multifunction steering wheel stopped working, with an error stored in the error memory. A similar issue was shared by another individual, who identified a connectivity problem with the control module, specifically a defective cable connection within the steering wheel. The suggested solution was to have a professional diagnose and replace the faulty cable, which was confirmed and resolved the issue for the original owner.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the fuses yet, that's a good point. When you say 'connectivity problem', do you mean a loose wire or something more serious? Also, how did you figure out it was the control module specifically?

In my case, it was a defective cable connection within the steering wheel itself. The mechanic said it's a fairly common issue. It might be worth getting it checked out by a professional. They can properly diagnose it and replace the faulty cable. It saved me a lot of headaches compared to trying to troubleshoot it myself. It could save you from replacing the entire module unnecessarily.

I took your advice and brought it to the shop. They confirmed a faulty cable connection in the steering wheel, just like you said. The whole thing cost me 95€ to fix. Thanks again for your help!

I had a similar issue with my Altea. The multifunction steering controls went completely dead. It turned out to be a connectivity problem with the control module. The malfunction indicator wasn't very helpful in this case. Did you check the fuses already? Does your specific model have the same module configuration as mine?
