Seat Altea Oil Sensor Errors

My 2009 Seat Altea with a diesel engine is throwing up some errors. Oil level sensor signal faulty apparently. Error message on the dash, stored in the memory, oil warning light comes on, sometimes even the oil pressure lamp flickers. Garage reckons it's likely a defective cable or plug. Anyone else seen this kind of thing? Is it a common issue?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Altea, though it was a while back. Engine oil warning light kept popping up. Did you check the sensor connector? Is it clean and properly seated?

Cheers. You mean the actual plug going into the sensor? Anything specific I should be looking for?

Yeah, the plug. I'd had a look myself, but couldn't sort it. Turned out to be a corroded wire within the connector itself. Unless you're good with electrics, I'd say get it to a workshop. Don't want to risk running it with dodgy oil readings, do you?

Right, got it sorted. Turns out it was indeed the cable to the sensor. 95€ later and the Altea is happy again. Thanks for the heads up.
