Seat Altea Oil Temperature Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Seat Altea with a gasoline engine displayed an oil temperature warning light and stored an error code, along with an oil pressure warning lamp. The suspected issue was a faulty oil temperature sensor or defective cable or plug connection. After diagnostics at a workshop, it was confirmed that the engine oil temperature sensor was the problem, and both the sensor and wiring were repaired.

I haven't checked the resistance yet, I'll add it to my to do list. Where was the sensor located on your Megane? I'm trying to locate it on my Altea to check the cable and plug connections.

Mine was a pain to get to, near the oil filter housing. Given the symptoms and your suspicion of wiring, it's probably best to get a proper car diagnostics run at a workshop. Could be more than just the sensor, playing it safe is key.

Took the Altea to the shop. Diagnostics confirmed it was the engine oil temperature sensor. They replaced the sensor and fixed the wiring. Cost me 95€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Renault Megane – oil pressure light acting up, plus a warning on the dash. For me, it also turned out to be a faulty sensor. Did you check the resistance of the temp sensor?
