Seat Altea Power Window Issue

Experiencing an issue with my 2008 Seat Altea diesel. After replacing the vehicle battery, the power windows can no longer be operated. An error is stored in the error memory, and I suspect it's related to unsuccessful window regulator initialization. Has anyone encountered a similar problem, and could offer some advice?

Window controls are such a pain! I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot after the battery died. The window motor just wouldn't respond. Did you try the window troubleshooting steps in the owner's manual? Maybe there's a specific reset procedure for the Altea.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the manual, but it doesn't mention anything specific about re-initialization after a battery change. Is there anything else I could try before taking it to a workshop? I'm worried about the potential repair costs.

I tried all sorts of things, but nothing worked. It sounds like the car's computer needs to relearn the window positions, which usually requires special diagnostic equipment. I think you're probably best off taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to sort out the window troubleshooting and reset the window regulator properly.

Took the Altea to a local workshop. They confirmed the window regulators needed re-initialization after the battery change. The car electronics were throwing a fit! Cost me 290€, but at least the power windows are working again. Thanks again for your help!
