Seat Altea rough running and high fuel consumption

Alright, I'm starting to get seriously annoyed with my 2014 Seat Altea. It's got a gasoline engine and about 72889 km on the clock. Recently, it's been starting really poorly, and my fuel consumption has gone through the roof. The engine power feels reduced, and it idles really unevenly, sometimes even stalling. Could a dirty injection valve really cause all this? Any ideas? I'm thinking it's probably something related to the fuel injection system, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm worried about vehicle emissions too!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Altea. The Engine was running rough and fuel consumption went up. Have you checked your injection valves?

Really? What kind of symptoms did you have? And how did you figure out it was the injection valves? I'm not really sure how to check them myself.

Yeah, pretty much the same. Uneven idling, poor starting, increased fuel consumption. The Engine was hesitating when accelerating too. I didn't check them myself, I just took it to a workshop. They diagnosed it pretty quickly. Might be worth getting it checked out professionally. It could also affect the emissions test if it gets worse.

Thanks a lot for your help! It turned out you were spot on. Took it to a mechanic, and it was indeed a faulty injection nozzle. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted. Runs like a dream now, and I'm hoping the fuel consumption will go back to normal. Vehicle performance is noticeably better.
