Seat Altea Tailgate Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Seat Altea owner experienced an issue with the automatic tailgate not opening fully, accompanied by a 'tailgate hall sensor fault' message. The problem was suspected to be related to a bad cable or plug. After checking the fuses and wiring harness without finding visible damage, it was suggested to have the sensor wiring and tailgate motor inspected by a professional. The issue was confirmed to be with the hall sensor wiring, which was repaired by a local shop, resolving the tailgate problem.

Thanks! The fuses are okay. I looked at the wiring harness quickly, but didn't see any breaks. Is there a part of the sensor wiring that breaks more often?

If the fuses are good and you checked the wiring, and you're still getting the hall sensor fault, the sensor wiring is probably the problem, especially with that mileage. I suggest taking it to a shop to check the sensor wiring and the tailgate motor. That way, you'll know for sure.

Just to let you know, it was the hall sensor wiring, like we thought. The local shop fixed it for 95€. The tailgate works great now. Thanks for the assistance!

That sounds annoying! It's like when a wire in your headphones breaks and you lose sound in one ear. It could be easy, but also hard to find. Did you check the fuses or the wiring harness where it goes into the tailgate for damage?
