Seat Altea Windshield Washer Heater Issue

I have a 2004 Seat Altea, diesel engine, with a faulty windshield washer heater. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, and the spray nozzles freeze up when it gets cold. I think it's a defective cable or plug connection to the heater. Has anyone else seen this on a similar VAG motor? Any known weak points in the loom? It's a pain when I need my windshield wipers and the washer fluid won't spray.

Frozen washer nozzles are a pain, especially in winter. I had something similar on my old Peugeot. Error code, frozen nozzles... Sounded like the heater circuit. Check the wiring and the plug first. A multimeter will help. Is the pump itself working?

Thanks for the reply. The pump's definitely working, I can hear it. So, you think it's likely the plug connection then? Any specific pins I should be checking on the plug, or just looking for obvious corrosion?

On the Peugeot, it was the plug itself. Pins were corroded, causing a bad connection, and the heater wasn't getting power. Check for voltage at the plug when the windshield wipers are activated. If there's no voltage, trace the wiring back. If you aren't comfortable with electrics, maybe it's time for a workshop.

Took it to the workshop. The windshield washer heater was dead, as suspected. New part and labor cost 95€. All set for winter now. Thanks for the confirmation.
