Seat Arona automatic gearbox issue

I am writing to inquire about a perplexing issue I am experiencing with my 2017 Seat Arona, equipped with a gasoline engine. The automatic gearbox is exhibiting implausible shifting behavior. Concurrently, the transmission indicator light illuminates, and the automatic transmission does not shift as usual, occasionally defaulting to emergency mode. My preliminary assessment suggests worn automatic transmission oil may be a contributing factor, potentially exacerbated by undervoltage.

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Seat Arona with a gasoline engine is experiencing unusual automatic gearbox behavior, including implausible shifting and activation of the transmission indicator light, sometimes defaulting to emergency mode. The initial assessment suggests worn automatic transmission oil and potential undervoltage as contributing factors. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the transmission oil and performing a flush, which confirmed undervoltage as the cause.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar scare with my Arona's automatic gearbox. The transmission was slipping like crazy, especially when accelerating. Have you noticed any warning lights on the dashboard? It could be a simple fix, like a transmission flush and oil replacement. But don't ignore it, a slipping transmission can quickly turn into a very expensive problem.

Interesting. Did you experience any other symptoms besides the slipping transmission? Also, was the problem constant, or did it occur intermittently? Any further details would be appreciated.

Yep, the symptoms were almost identical: the transmission indicator light, the weird shifting, and that feeling of being stuck in the wrong gear. It started intermittently, but quickly became constant. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop sooner rather than later. Ignoring it only makes things worse, trust me, I've been there with other cars in the past.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems my Arona was exhibiting similar behavior. As suspected, a visit to the workshop confirmed undervoltage was the culprit. Oil replacement and a transmission flush, costing 240€, resolved the issue.
