Yes, the error memory showed a converter fault. The garage mentioned something about the torque converter lock-up clutch being defective. Was that the same for you? And did it also lead to a complete replacement of the torque converter?

Yup, same issue. It was the torque converter lock-up clutch. Unfortunately, it meant a full torque converter replacement. Given the symptoms and the error code, I'd suggest taking it to a reputable mechanic who specializes in automatic transmissions to confirm the diagnosis. Better be sure before dishing out a lot of money for repairs.

I followed your recommendation and took it to a trusted workshop. Turns out it was indeed the torque converter at fault, just like the error codes suggested. Repair cost me 2120€, a hefty sum, but the Arona is running smoothly again. Thanks a lot for your help!

Oh, that sounds rough! I had a similar experience with my Seat Ibiza. The automatic gearbox started acting up with similar symptoms: slipping gears and some nasty grinding sounds. The check engine light was also on, and it turned out to be a torque converter clutch problem. Did you get any specific error codes?
