Seat Arona Cruise Control Failure
Summary of the thread
The cruise control on a 2019 Seat Arona stopped working, with an error indicating a defective cable or plug connection. Initial checks of the fuse box showed no issues. Suggestions included examining the brake light switch and the steering wheel clock spring, as faults in these areas can disable cruise control. Ultimately, the problem was traced to a faulty cable on the pedal switch, which was repaired at a workshop, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. The brake lights seem to be working fine. I haven't checked the clock spring though – not really sure how to diagnose that. Any tips on how to check that or the pedal switch properly without specialist tools?

A faulty pedal switch is indeed a strong possibility, given the error code. You mention the brake lights illuminate, but the cruise control system has a separate circuit within the switch that might be failing. Regarding the clock spring, diagnosis without specialist equipment can be challenging, as it involves continuity testing of the circuits running through it. Given the potential complexity and the stored error code, a workshop visit may be the most efficient route to properly diagnose and resolve the issue. They have diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact cause and replace any faulty components.

Took it to the shop, and you nailed it! It was a dodgy cable on the pedal switch. 95€ later, and my cruise control is working perfectly again. Thanks a lot for the help!

Cruise control issues on modern vehicles can be tricky. Since you have an error code stored, it suggests a fault the system has registered. Have you checked the brake light switch functionality? A faulty switch can often disable cruise control as a safety measure. Also, is your steering wheel clock spring functioning correctly? A failure there could interrupt the cruise control signal.
