Seat Arona Engine Stalling Issue Resolved

Alright, I'm officially pulling my hair out! My 2020 Seat Arona with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. It's got about 84846 km on it. The check engine light is on, and the engine keeps stalling when I'm idling. I scanned the error memory, and it's pointing towards the idle air control valve. Could this be it? I'm thinking maybe the intake is heavily contaminated, but I'm not entirely sure. Any ideas?

Hmm, engine stalling and a check engine light on your 2020 Arona... that doesn't sound great. The idle air control valve makes sense given the symptoms. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body at all? That might be a simpler fix before condemning the IAC valve itself. Also, does the engine only stall when it's cold, or does it happen when it's warmed up too?

Cleaning the throttle body is a good idea, I suppose. But where is that exactly and is it difficult to get to? And to answer your question, it happens at any temperature, not just when it's cold.

Okay, if it's happening regardless of engine temperature, then yeah, I'd suspect the IAC valve or something affecting it. Given the error code, a contaminated intake makes sense. It's tough to say for sure without seeing it, but it's probably best to have a workshop take a look. They can properly diagnose it and clean the intake if that's the issue.

You were absolutely right! Took my Arona to the shop this morning. They confirmed it was a badly contaminated intake causing the IAC valve to malfunction. They cleaned everything up, replaced a gasket, and now it runs like a champ again. Cost me 425€, but honestly, so worth it to have it running smoothly again. Thanks a million for your help!
