That's interesting When your engine light came on and you experienced the engine surge, did that stop the car from starting completely Or was it just rough starting and running And did you have to take it to a workshop to get it fixed Do you remember what the problem was in the end

Okay, so mine didn't completely stop the car from starting, but it was rough, like it was really struggling, and the engine light stayed on. Honestly, with the 'check engine' light illuminated, and without knowing much about cars, I was hesitant to mess around with it too much myself. I did check some simple things, like fuses, but in the end, I decided to take it to a workshop. They ran some diagnostics and refreshed the engine software. If your car isn't starting at all, and you've checked the obvious things, it might be best to get it professionally diagnosed. It is probably the cable connections to the battery not good, but I suggest you get it checked

Great news I took the Arona to the workshop as suggested. You were spot on It turned out the cable connections to the battery were not good. They cleaned and tightened them, and the car started right up. The final bill was 155€, so much better than a complete engine overhaul I'm so grateful for your help

That sounds worrying. I have a Seat Arona too, though I haven't experienced that exact problem. But a while ago, my engine light came on, and the engine seemed to surge a bit at low speeds. It wasn't starting, but it felt rough, like it was about to. I'm no mechanic, but that "check engine" warning could mean a bunch of things. Have you checked the fuel injection system That's what I did first. Also, maybe it's an engine software issue
