Seat Arona Fuel Flap Issue

I'm encountering an issue with my 2020 Seat Arona, equipped with a gasoline engine and showing 149850 km on the odometer. The fuel flap release is no longer functional. I've scanned the error memory and found an error code related to it. Locking or unlocking the fuel filler flap is impossible, and some other minor vehicle functions seem to be unavailable as well. I suspect a defective linkage might be the cause. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I own a Seat Arona, and I experienced a similar fuel door issue not too long ago. It sounds like the electric actuator that controls the fuel flap release might be the culprit. This actuator is a small electric motor responsible for physically unlocking the fuel door when you press the release button inside the car. Did you notice any unusual sounds coming from the fuel door area before it stopped working completely?

Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't notice any strange noises beforehand. Just one day, the fuel door simply wouldn't open, and the error appeared. You mentioned the electric actuator, is that something I can inspect myself, or is it best left to professionals? Also, did you have any other symptoms besides the fuel door not opening?

In my case, there were no other symptoms, just the fuel door refusing to open. While it might be possible to inspect the actuator yourself, it's often integrated into the fuel door locking mechanism, which can be a bit fiddly to disassemble without proper tools and knowledge. Considering the stored error and the potential for further complications, my recommendation would be to take it to a qualified workshop for diagnosis and repair. They can pinpoint the exact cause and replace the electric actuator if necessary.

I took the Arona to a workshop. The electric actuator for the fuel door was indeed faulty, as you suggested. The linkage was fine. They replaced the actuator and cleared the error memory, and everything is working as expected. The fuel flap release now operates normally. Total cost came to 210€ Thanks again for your help!
