Seat Arona gearbox slipping ABS fault suspected

Alright, I'm seriously losing it here. My 2018 Seat Arona with a gasoline engine has gone completely bonkers. The gearbox is slipping like crazy, shifts are super rough, and I'm pretty sure it's stuck in some kind of limp home mode. Diagnostic trouble points to transfer case issues but I suspect consequential faults from possible faults in the ABS system. Any ideas before I torch the whole bloody thing?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Seat Arona is experiencing gearbox slipping and rough shifts, suspected to be in limp mode. Initial diagnostics suggest transfer case issues, but a faulty ABS sensor is suspected to be the root cause. The ABS sensor may send incorrect data to the ECU, confusing the transmission system. The solution involves checking fault codes and potentially replacing or recalibrating the ABS sensor, which resolved the issue under warranty.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hmm, sounds familiar. I had similar weirdness with my old Renault Megane. The gearbox was acting up, like it couldn't decide what gear to be in. Traction control light was flashing too. Turned out to be a faulty ABS sensor messing with the whole system. Because the ABS sends speed data to the ECU, the transmission gets confused. Check fault codes.

ABS sensor, huh? Traction control light has been flickering now that I think about it. How'd you figure out it was the ABS and not something actually wrong with the gearbox itself?

Yeah, the garage guys figured it out, I'm no mechanic. They said the faulty ABS sensor was sending garbage data to the ECU which then messed with the torque converter and the transmission control. The car thought the wheels were slipping when they weren't, so it was doing all sorts of weird stuff. Honestly, just take it to a workshop. They'll hook it up to a proper diagnostic tool and should be able to pinpoint the problem pretty quickly by reading the fault codes.

Dude, you were spot on! Took it in, and it was a messed up ABS sensor throwing everything off. They recalibrated something, cleared the fault codes, and bam! Back to normal. The best part? Covered under warranty. Zero euros! Thanks a million for the heads up!
