Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the hydraulic fluid level yet, will do that first thing tomorrow. When you had the issue, was it the same increased effort required when steering, as if the power steering had failed completely? And did you also have an error stored in the error memory?

Yes, the increased effort and the error in the memory were both present when I had the issue. The hydraulic fluid level might be a simple fix, but the error code and the symptoms you describe lean towards a more specific electrical problem, like the cable or plug connection being defective. Given the error stored, it is best to take it to a workshop.

Just wanted to let you know that your suggestion about the cable or plug connection being defective was spot on! Took it to the workshop and they found a loose connection. 95€ later and the power steering is back to normal. No more vibrating steering wheel! Thanks a million, you saved me a ton of worry and probably a fortune!

I had a similar issue with my Seat Arona. The symptoms you described, especially the spongy handling, are concerning. Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level for the power steering pump? Also, is the steering wheel consistently vibrating, or does it come and go? It sounds like when you say 'spongy handling' that it feels a bit like trying to steer through treacle.
