Seat Arona Rear Window Heating Issue

My 2017 Seat Arona with a diesel engine presents a peculiar problem. The rear window heating is non-functional. I've scanned the vehicle, and there's an error stored in the error memory related to the thermal window. Furthermore, the windshield heating does not seem to function as effectively as it once did. Given the symptoms and my initial assessment, I suspect a heavily discharged or defective battery could be the culprit. Has anyone encountered anything similar?

Whoa, that's a weird one! I had something kinda similar happen with my Seat Arona (I don't remember the year), but it was the front windshield heating. The auto defrost wasn't working right and I was getting worried. I don't know much about cars, but could it be something like a fuse?

Interesting. When your windshield heating wasn't working, did you also have an error stored in the error memory? I've already checked the fuses related to the window heater, and they seem to be fine. Before I start tearing apart the rear window looking for a broken heating coil, I want to explore other avenues.

Yeah, I think there was an error code, but I honestly can't remember the exact details. My local mechanic sorted it out pretty quick, and he mentioned something about the battery messing with the heating coil. If you've checked the fuses, maybe it's best to take it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Alright, just wanted to close the loop on this. You were spot on with the battery. Had it tested and it was indeed heavily discharged and defective. Replaced it, cleared the error memory, and the thermal window is now functioning as expected. Total damage: 290€. Thanks for the insight!
