Seat Arona Start Stop Problems

I'm having start-stop issues on my 2019 Seat Arona Diesel, currently at 104486 km. The system isn't working, and there's an error stored. The engine shuts off as it should, but the automatic restart fails, triggering a speedometer warning light. Preliminary diagnostics suggest the car battery might be heavily discharged or defective. Has anyone seen this?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Arona, though I can't recall the error code. The engine kept cutting out, and I was getting a warning light too. Did you notice if it struggled to start sometimes? It might be something with the car battery. The start-stop system tends to be the first victim when the battery starts to fail, like the canary in the coal mine.

Interesting analogy. So, if I understand correctly, your Arona had the same symptoms, and it was related to the car battery? Did the automatic restart also fail? I am trying to narrow down the cause before potentially replacing the battery.

Yes, the automatic restart was definitely failing, which was a pain. I ended up taking it to a workshop and they pinpointed the battery. Save yourself the headache and get it checked. A faulty start-stop can be a real nuisance, better sorted sooner rather than later.

The workshop visit confirmed the car battery was the issue. Replacing it got the start-stop working correctly again. The total cost was 290€.
