Seat Arosa Active Hood Fault

I'm experiencing a rather concerning issue with my 2000 Seat Arosa, which has a gasoline engine. I keep getting an "Active hood fault" message on the on-board computer, and the airbag warning lamp is constantly illuminated in the speedometer. I checked the error memory, and it shows a fault related to the active hood system. Furthermore, the spring actuators seem to be triggering. From what I've gathered, it could be a defective acceleration sensor related to the car safety and crash detection system. Has anyone encountered something similar? This is a safety system fault, and I'm quite worried about the car safety if it is not working correctly. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same issue with my Arosa a while back. The 'Active hood fault' message kept popping up, and that airbag light was super annoying. Plus, the error memory thing – yep, been there. I remember the spring actuators going off too, which was a bit of a shock. Did you notice anything weird just before it started happening?

Interesting! I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary before it happened. But you mentioned you had a similar issue. What exactly was the problem with your car, and how did you fix it? Was it also the impact sensor?

Yeah, mine turned out to be a faulty impact sensor, just like you suspect. It's all part of the active hood system, designed for pedestrian protection. Because it's linked to the airbag system, that's why you're seeing the airbag light too. Honestly, I'd recommend getting it checked out by a workshop. Messing with car safety and crash detection stuff yourself can be risky. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact sensor and replace it. It's a system fault that's better left to professionals, in my opinion.

Thank you so much for the information! It was indeed the acceleration sensor. The workshop confirmed it, and after replacing it, the error is gone. Cost me around 315€, but now I can drive safely again. I really appreciate your help!
