Transmission oil, eh? How did you figure that out? And what exactly did you do to fix it?

Well, the symptoms you described were almost identical to what I experienced. After a bit of research, I found that implausible shifting behavior, combined with the light and emergency mode, can often point to issues with the transmission oil. It might be worn out or low. I highly recommend taking it to a workshop, and they can perform a proper diagnostic and advise on whether a transmission oil replacement or a transmission flush is needed. It solved my problem!

Yep, sorted it. Turns out it was the transmission oil. Got an oil replacement and a transmission flush, cost 240€. Shifts like new now, thanks for the help!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happen with my Arosa. The transmission was acting up, indicator light was on, and it felt like it was stuck in emergency mode. Was a nightmare! I'm no expert, but have you checked the transmission oil level? And when was the last time you had the transmission oil replaced? That could be a place to start.
