Where exactly is the activated charcoal filter located, and is it easy to check for leaks myself? I'm trying to avoid taking it to a workshop if it's something simple I can fix.

The charcoal canister is a common culprit. It's usually located near the fuel tank. Honestly, unless you know what you're doing, you might want to get it checked by a professional. A leak test on the evap system requires specific tools. Incorrect diagnosis could lead to further issues.

It was a defective activated charcoal filter, causing a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system. I got it replaced, along with the purge valve, and the check engine light is now off. The car runs much smoother at idle, and I'm hoping my fuel efficiency will improve. Total cost was 275€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Sounds like a evap system failure. I had a similar problem with my Arosa. Check the purge valve and the activated charcoal filter. Usually it's one of those causing the check engine light to come on and the stalling. Any other symptoms?
