Seat Arosa Diesel engine trouble
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Seat Arosa diesel is experiencing engine trouble, including an illuminated engine light, jerking during acceleration, whistling and hissing sounds from the turbo, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. The suspected cause is a faulty boost sensor or its connection, particularly related to the turbo system and air intake. The solution involved checking the boost sensor and its connections, which revealed a bad connection that was resolved by cleaning, restoring the car's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly is the boost sensor located, and what should I be looking for in terms of a bad connection? Is it visibly obvious, or will I need a multimeter?

It's usually the connection. For me the sensor was visibly ok, but the car was exhibiting all the same symptoms. I'd advise taking it to a workshop to check it out properly. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks a lot for your help. I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the boost pressure sensor cable had a bad connection. They cleaned it up, and all is well. 95€ later and she's running like new.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Arosa. Check the boost sensor and its connection. Could be the culprit.
