Seat Arosa Diesel Heating Issue

My 2002 Seat Arosa diesel has a weird issue. The error memory shows a fault with the solar sensor. The heating output is pretty low, especially noticeable now that it's getting colder. I've read somewhere that a defective cable or plug connection could be the culprit. Could this also affect the HVAC sensor calibration? Any ideas before I take it to a workshop?

Sounds like a faulty daylight sensor. I had similar HVAC issues with my Arosa. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and plug connection? A poor connection can cause these symptoms. The temperature sensor might be sending incorrect data to the system.

Where exactly is this daylight sensor located and how difficult is it to check the wiring and plug connection? Is it a DIY job, or do I need special tools? I'm not very experienced with car electrics.

Yeah, that's the one. If you are not confident get it checked. It's usually on the dashboard near the windscreen. A multimeter might be useful, but if you don't know how to use one, it's best to leave it to the pros. Could be a bad car sensor, but start with the basics. A workshop can quickly diagnose the issue and confirm if it's a faulty sensor or just a wiring problem.

Thanks for the confirmation. I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it was the solar sensor at fault. Replaced it, and now the heating is working as it should. Cost me 95€, but worth it to have proper heating again.
