Seat Arosa Diesel Power Loss and Smoke

My 2001 Seat Arosa diesel has gone completely bonkers. Loss of power, plumes of smoke on acceleration. Suspect it's the dreaded diesel particulate filter. Anyone else experienced this? I'm getting worried about the upcoming vehicle inspection and backpressure readings. Already tried a forced regeneration but no dice!

Sounds like DPF issues. I had similar symptoms on mine. Does the engine light come on? Have you noticed any changes in fuel efficiency?

Engine light is definitely on, like a Christmas tree! Fuel efficiency has tanked too. Did yours also smoke when accelerating? What did you do about it?

Yep, the smoke and fuel economy are classic signs. Unfortunately, forced regeneration rarely fixes a truly blocked DPF. I ended up having to get mine replaced. I'd suggest getting it checked out at a workshop to confirm, but it sounds like you're heading that way. Might be worth checking the backpressure sensor too.

Just got the Arosa back from the shop. You nailed it – DPF was shot. Cost me 1550€ for the replacement. Ouch! Thanks for the heads up.
