Seat Arosa Diesel rough running issues

I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2003 Seat Arosa diesel is giving me grief. It starts poorly, stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on constantly. Suspect a defective camshaft sensor, possibly due to the encoder wheel on the camshafts being faulty. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I had similar symptoms with my Arosa. Did you check the crankshaft sensor as well? Sensor failure can cause those issues.

Crankshaft sensor too? I thought it was solely the camshaft sensor because of the check engine light. Was yours the same?

Yes, the check engine light was on in my case too. It's worth checking both, but with those symptoms, especially the car stalling, it points to a sensor issue. Better take it to a workshop.

Big thanks for your insight. It was indeed the camshaft sensor and the encoder wheel. The workshop confirmed it. Cost me 695€ to get it sorted, but the Arosa is running smoothly again.
