Seat Arosa engine issues

Thanks. I haven't checked the timing belt myself. The service history is incomplete, so I'm not sure when it was last changed. If the timing belt is the problem, would that definitely cause a crankshaft sensor error?

Yeah, a dodgy timing belt can mess with the crankshaft sensor readings for sure! It's like they're arguing about when things are supposed to happen. It's worth getting it checked, but honestly, with those symptoms and the engine light on, the crankshaft sensor is the prime suspect. Better get it checked in the workshop.

Took the Arosa to a local garage. They confirmed it was the crankshaft sensor. New sensor fitted, and the engine light is now off. Runs much smoother, and the fuel consumption seems to be back to normal. Thanks for the help!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Arosa. Engine light was on, felt like it was dragging its feet, and I was filling up the tank way too often. Did you check the timing belt? When was the last time it was changed? It can cause misfires if it's worn or loose, which could throw off the crankshaft sensor readings.
