Seat Arosa Fault Memory Lock Active Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Seat Arosa with a gasoline engine is experiencing a 'fault memory lock active' error, likely due to undervoltage issues affecting the ECU. The problem may cause the ECU to lock itself down, mistakenly identifying a fault. The suggested solution is to check the battery and clear the fault codes at a workshop, which resolved the issue after replacing the battery and resetting the codes.

Struggling to start? Not really. It just feels like something's not quite right, and the error light is annoying. You had the exact same 'fault memory lock active' thing?

Yep, that was it exactly. 'Fault memory lock active'. It's like the car's ECU is locking itself down because it thinks something's wrong due to low voltage. I'd suggest getting the battery checked and the fault codes cleared at a workshop. Could save you a headache.

Big thanks for the confirmation. Took it to the shop and they found undervoltage like you said. New battery and a reset of the fault codes later, and it's running like a charm. 240€ lighter, but worth it to have it sorted.

I had a similar issue with my Arosa. The fault codes kept popping up, and the control unit seemed to be acting strange. Is it struggling to start?
