Key battery is new, and I've tried the spare. Same issue. Is there anything else I should check before assuming it's a key programming problem?

Sounds like you've covered the basics. Given the symptoms and error codes, plus you've tried both keys, it's highly likely to be a key signal issue requiring key programming. Best get it checked at a workshop with the appropriate car electronics diagnostics.

Got the key reprogrammed as suspected. Cost me 45€. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Immobilizer fault on an Arosa? That's a classic! Are you absolutely sure it's not just a flat battery in the key fob? Have you tried the spare key?
