Seat Arosa lighting problem

I am experiencing a rather perplexing issue with the car lighting in my Seat Arosa, built in 2001, with a diesel engine. The lights switch on seemingly at random, and an error is stored in the error memory. I suspect it may be a faulty light switch, perhaps due to a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

I understand your frustration with car lighting issues. I had a similar electrical problem with my Opel Corsa a few years ago. The symptoms were slightly different, but it also involved the car lighting system. Did you check the fuses related to the car lighting? Sometimes a blown fuse can cause such intermittent faults.

Thank you for your response. I did check the fuses, and they all seem to be fine. The error message suggests it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Is this what happened with your Corsa?

Indeed, the issue with my Corsa was also a faulty cable connection, specifically related to the headlight switch. It caused similar intermittent problems. Given your error message and the symptoms you describe, it is likely the same issue. I would recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It does sound like a similar problem. I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed it was a faulty cable connection to the light switch. The repair cost me 95€. Everything is working as it should now. Thank you again for your help.
