Seat Arosa poor heating output

Hello, I'm having a terrible time with the heater in my 2004 Seat Arosa with a diesel engine. The heating output is very poor, especially at idle. I ran a scan and it shows an error related to the water valve. Could a defective water valve really cause such a dramatic loss of heat? The documentation suggests that a cable or plug connection of the component is defective. I'm worried about engine overheating and the repair is estimated at 95€. Any thoughts?

Low heating output and an error code definitely suggests a problem in the cooling system. You mention a faulty water valve – have you checked the wiring and connections to the valve itself? Is the connector corroded or damaged? That would certainly explain both the error code and the reduced heating performance. It's a common issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the connections briefly, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Is there a specific way to test the water valve or the wiring harness to confirm that's the problem? I'm not the most mechanically inclined.

Okay, if you're not comfortable with electrical testing, it might be best to take it to a workshop. It does sound like a faulty water valve or a wiring issue related to it. Ignoring it could potentially lead to engine overheating if the cooling system isn't functioning correctly. A proper diagnosis will save you headaches and ensure the valve replacement actually fixes the problem.

Thanks for your help! I took it to a local mechanic, and they confirmed it was the water valve. They replaced the valve and the connector, and now the heater is working perfectly again. It cost about 95€. Appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.
