Seat Arosa Power Window Problem

Mechanics of the forum, I've got a head scratcher. My 2001 Seat Arosa with a diesel engine has decided it no longer wants to play nice with the power windows. Neither side works. I plugged it into a code reader and it's throwing an error related to the window regulator. I'm suspecting it might be a defective power window switch, but before I start tearing into the door panel, I figured I'd see if anyone else has run into something similar. Any thoughts?

I had a similar issue with my Seat Ibiza. The window mechanism packed it in. Have you checked the window track itself? Sometimes it gets jammed or bent, which can overload the window regulator.

Interesting. When you say window track, are you talking about the metal guides that the car window slides up and down on? Is there a good way to inspect that without taking the whole door apart?

Yep, those metal guides. It's worth a shot before diving into replacing the window regulator. In my case, the window track was bent, causing the window mechanism to bind and eventually fry the motor. Honestly, it's a pain to get to. If you are not comfortable with electrics, I'd advise you take it to a workshop.

The window regulator was indeed the culprit. Repair set me back 200€, but at least the power windows are working again. Thanks for the input!
