Seat Arosa Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Seat Arosa with a diesel engine exhibited a temperature sensor heat exchanger defective error, affecting the air conditioning system. The issue was suspected to be related to a faulty temperature sensor, potentially impacting the heat exchanger and possibly the air conditioning control unit. A professional repair confirmed the temperature sensor was indeed faulty and had damaged the A/C control unit, resolving the problem.

Interesting. The engine cooling seemed okay, and I didn't see any coolant leaks. But now that you mention it, could a gradual coolant loss be the cause? And regarding 'sensor calibration', is that something I can check myself, or is it best left to a workshop?

A slight coolant loss could be a factor, even if it's not immediately obvious. As for the sensor calibration, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you're confident. I took mine to a workshop, and they fixed it. It might be worth getting a professional opinion before you start taking things apart, it could save time and trouble.

Just to close the loop, I went ahead and authorized the repair. It set me back 980€, which isn't ideal, but the A/C is working perfectly now. The shop confirmed the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger was faulty and had damaged the A/C control unit. Thanks for the input!

That sounds familiar. Did you notice any issues with the engine cooling, or any signs of a coolant leak? I remember that error code being a real nuisance, and the A/C wouldn't turn on. I'm not an expert, but could it be something as straightforward as a sensor calibration issue?
