Seat Ateca ABS and Traction Control Problems

Has anyone experienced ABS and traction control issues with their Seat Ateca? Mine is a 2017 gasoline model. The ABS lamp is constantly on, and I'm getting traction control problems. The diagnostic tool indicates a speed signal fault. Seems like the odometer isn't working either. Could this be a defective ABS control unit? It's like the whole system has gone bonkers. Any ideas before I potentially face a hefty repair bill?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Seat Ateca owner experienced persistent ABS and traction control issues, with the ABS light constantly on and a non-functioning odometer. A diagnostic tool indicated a speed signal fault, raising concerns about a potentially defective ABS control unit. After checking the wheel speed sensors and confirming they were fine, the problem was suspected to be with the ABS control unit itself. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty ABS control unit, restoring the vehicle's functionality.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Ateca. ABS light, traction control going haywire. Did you check the wheel speed sensors? Those can cause ABS malfunction too.

Thanks for the reply. I did check the wheel speed sensors, they seem fine according to the diagnostic tool. The error code points towards a speed signal fault related to the transmission. Could it still be the ABS control unit even if the sensors are okay?

If the diagnostic points to a speed signal fault and the sensors are good, and your odometer isn't working, it's likely the ABS control unit itself. It's like the central hub for all that data. Best to get it checked by a workshop.

Took it to the shop as you suggested. The ABS control unit was indeed faulty. A new unit was installed, costing me around 1000€. Odometer and transmission are working fine again. Thanks for the help!
