Seat Ateca automatic temperature control malfunction

My Seat Ateca 2023 model, diesel engine is giving me absolute grief. The automatic temperature control has completely stopped working. The air conditioning system refuses to switch on. I have already checked the error memory, and it shows a fault with the interior temperature sensor. I suspect it might be a cable or plug connection issue with the sensor itself. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas before I potentially face a hefty repair bill?

Summary of the thread

The automatic temperature control in a 2023 Seat Ateca stopped working, with the air conditioning system failing to switch on. The error memory indicated a fault with the interior temperature sensor, leading to suspicions of a cable or plug connection issue. A similar past issue suggested that the sensor was likely the problem. After taking the car to a workshop, the sensor was replaced, resolving the malfunction.

Sounds like you're having a similar issue to what I had with my old Skoda Octavia. The climate control went haywire, and it turned out to be a faulty temperature sensor. Does the error memory specifically mention the interior temperature sensor? That was the key for me.

Yes, the error memory does specifically mention the interior temperature sensor. Did you end up replacing the sensor yourself, or did you take it to a mechanic? And was it expensive?

Okay, if the error memory is pointing directly to the interior temperature sensor, and given the symptoms you're describing, it's highly likely that's the culprit. I didn't replace the sensor myself as I wasn't confident enough, I am no expert. Instead, I took it to a local mechanic. The sensor diagnostics pointed to sensor replacement. In the end, it was an easy fix for them. Given your suspicion about the cable or plug connection, it's worth having a professional take a look. It could save you time and potential further damage. I would recommend going to the workshop.

I took my Ateca to the workshop, and they confirmed it was the interior temperature sensor. They replaced it, and now the climate control is working again! The total cost was 95€, just like they estimated. Thank you for your help and advice! It really gave me the confidence to get it sorted.
