Seat Ateca Automatic Transmission Issues

I'm starting to get seriously stressed with my Seat Ateca, a 2019 diesel. The automatic transmission is playing up big time. The transmission indicator light is on, along with the check engine light. It's gone into emergency mode, the gear changes are all over the place, slipping, and making horrible grinding noises. I scanned it, and it's showing a 'radiator oil pressure defective' error. Could this be a simple fix, or am I looking at a new gearbox? I'm fearing a leak detection is in order.

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Seat Ateca with a diesel engine is experiencing significant automatic transmission issues, including warning lights, emergency mode activation, erratic gear changes, and grinding noises. The problem is identified as a 'radiator oil pressure defective' error, suggesting a potential issue with the oil cooler's pressure sensor. The solution involved cleaning and replacing a faulty connector to the pressure sensor, resolving the issue without needing a new gearbox.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Volvo a while back. Turned out to be a faulty pressure sensor on the oil cooler, causing the gearbox to freak out. Does your Ateca have an oil cooler integrated with the radiator coolant system?

An oil cooler integrated with the radiator coolant system? I'm not sure, to be honest. Where would I check for that? And would a faulty sensor really cause all those problems?

Yeah, on the Volvo, the sensor was sending incorrect readings to the transmission control unit, putting it into limp mode. Check where the oil filter is located, the oil cooler might be nearby, connected to the radiator with hoses. But honestly, with those symptoms and that error code, I would get it checked by someone who knows what they're doing before you cause further damage.

Took it to the local garage, and you were spot on! Faulty connection to the pressure sensor on the oil cooler. They cleaned it up and replaced a dodgy connector. Cost me 95€. That's a lot better than a new gearbox! Thanks for the help!
