Seat Ateca Automatic Transmission Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Seat Ateca with automatic transmission issues was reported, characterized by unusual shifting and an illuminated transmission indicator light, suggesting emergency mode activation. The suspected cause was worn-out transmission oil. A similar case revealed that undervoltage could lead to slipping transmission and emergency mode. The solution involved a transmission flush and addressing the voltage problem, which resolved the performance issues.

Interesting, did your automatic transmission go into emergency mode as well? Was it also related to transmission performance issues or something else entirely?

Yes, the automatic transmission went into emergency mode. The garage mentioned undervoltage could cause the slipping transmission. I'd suggest getting the automatic transmission checked at a workshop.

Thanks for the insight. Turns out undervoltage was the culprit, leading to the transmission oil issue. A transmission flush and addressing the voltage problem cost me 240€. Transmission performance seems back to normal.

I had similar implausible shifting behavior in my Ateca automatic transmission. Check the hydraulic fluid level first. Could be a slipping transmission issue. Was the transmission indicator light on?
