Seat Ateca brake booster pressure sensor issue

I'm having a frustrating issue with my Seat Ateca (2017, diesel engine). It has around 197585 km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting an error message on the speedometer, and the brake performance feels significantly reduced. I ran a diagnostic, and it's showing a brake booster pressure sensor failure. I've read online that this can sometimes be caused by the brake system being bled incorrectly in the past. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any thoughts on whether incorrect bleeding is a likely cause or other ideas about the origin of the error? And what about the replacement parts? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a brake booster pressure sensor issue in a Seat Ateca, leading to reduced brake performance and an error message. The problem might be linked to incorrect bleeding of the brake system, which could have introduced air and potentially damaged the sensor. The suggested solution is to have a professional mechanic diagnose and replace the faulty sensor, which successfully resolved the issue for the vehicle owner.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds like a serious issue with your brake performance! A failing brake booster can be super dangerous. Could the incorrect bleeding have damaged the sensor itself? Maybe it introduced air into the hydraulic brakes system? I'm not an expert, but I'd definitely get that checked out ASAP!

Thanks, that's helpful. So, are you saying that improperly bled brakes could actually cause the brake booster pressure sensor to fail? I'm just trying to understand the connection between the hydraulic brakes system and the sensor itself. Is there anything specific I should tell the mechanic to check for?

Yeah, incorrect bleeding could definitely mess things up and cause the sensor to fail. It's all part of the brake system. To be honest, messing with brakes can be risky. If you're not experienced, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the sensor if needed.

Just wanted to let you know I took the Ateca to a local mechanic. They confirmed it was the brake booster pressure sensor and replaced it. The error message is gone, and the brake performance is back to normal. The replacement part cost me around 90€. Thanks again for your help!
