Seat Ateca climate control problem

My 2016 Seat Ateca with a gasoline engine is driving me nuts. The automatic climate control seems possessed. The air conditioning isn't cooling properly anymore, and I've got an error stored in the error memory. My mileage is 99531 km. The weirdest thing is that the rear passengers are getting almost no air at all. I suspect a rear ventilation flap fault. Could be a defective cable or plug connection, I reckon. Has anyone experienced something like this before? What am I looking at here?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Seat Ateca owner experienced issues with the automatic climate control, where the air conditioning wasn't cooling properly, and rear passengers received little to no airflow. The problem was suspected to be a rear ventilation flap fault, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. Another Ateca owner suggested checking the rear ventilation flap motor, which was confirmed as the issue. The problem was resolved by repairing the defective connection at a workshop, restoring proper cooling and airflow.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I also drive an Ateca and had a similar problem with the air distribution, especially affecting rear passengers. I was getting warm air from the rear vents even when the automatic climate was set to cool. Have you checked the rear ventilation flap motor? I'm not a mechanic, but could that be the culprit?

Rear ventilation flap motor, huh? Where exactly is that located? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off leaving it to the professionals? And how did you eventually fix your air distribution issue? Was it expensive?

Okay, so I'm no expert, but yes, it was the rear ventilation flap motor, or rather, the connection to it. I didn't attempt the repair myself. Honestly, with modern car HVAC systems being so complex, and considering the error you're getting, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose the exact problem and replace or repair the wiring. It could save you a lot of headache in the long run. I had the same symptoms. What else could it be?

I took my Ateca to the workshop. You were spot on, it was a defective cable or plug connection to the rear ventilation flap. They sorted it for 95€. Now the air conditioning is cooling properly and rear passengers are happy. Thanks a million for your help.
