Seat Ateca Diesel Emission Control Problem

I'm experiencing some trouble with my 2021 Seat Ateca diesel with approximately 99961 km. The warning light in the speedometer is on, indicating a problem with the emission control system. I've noticed reduced engine power, smoke when accelerating, and a strong exhaust smell. I suspect it might be related to the diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure being too low. Could a defective exhaust back pressure sensor be the cause of these DPF issues?

Sounds like DPF issues. I had similar reduced power and a strong exhaust smell with my old Vauxhall Astra. Do you know what the exhaust back pressure reading is?

Thanks for the quick response! I don't know the exact reading. Where would I find that?

The reading would be from a diagnostic tool. If you have a way to read diagnostic codes, it should show a value for exhaust back pressure. But if you're experiencing reduced power and those symptoms, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. A faulty sensor can cause the car to not perform DPF regeneration, which can lead to further problems.

Turns out you were right, it was the exhaust back pressure sensor. The workshop confirmed it with a diagnostic test. They replaced it, and the error is gone. The total cost was 245€, including the sensor and labor. Thanks for the help!
