Seat Ateca Diesel Engine Issues

I am experiencing some issues with my 2019 Seat Ateca, diesel engine. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed reduced engine power, smoke when accelerating, rough engine running, higher fuel consumption, and jerking. Could this be related to a defective EGR valve, affecting vehicle emissions?

Sounds very familiar! I had a similar issue with my Ateca. Reduced engine power and the check engine light were the first things I noticed. Was there any hissing sound when accelerating? That's what really gave it away for me.

The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gases back into the engine to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. A defective valve can cause all sorts of problems. The hissing sound probably means there is a vacuum leak due to the faulty EGR valve. I suggest you visit a workshop soon.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I took it to a local mechanic, and they confirmed it was indeed the EGR valve. The automotive repair cost was 355€. Hopefully, this resolves all the issues with vehicle emissions, and it will pass the emissions test now.
