Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Ateca. Check your battery connections and measure the voltage when the engine is running. A voltage drop is a strong indicator for the charging system failure. The starter motor might also be affected. Is the battery low?

Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly did you measure the voltage? And do you remember if you also had an engine misfire?

I measured the voltage directly at the battery terminals. And yes, I did have an engine misfire occasionally, especially when the battery was really low due to the faulty charging system. Eventually my car stalled. I'd get it checked at a workshop to be sure, but it sounds like a defective generator. Good luck.

The workshop confirmed the generator is the problem. Replacement will be 960€. Thanks for the help.
