Seat Ateca Diesel Jerking and Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Seat Ateca diesel is experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, a strong exhaust smell, stalling at idle, rough running, and power loss. These symptoms suggest a potential intake manifold issue, possibly due to a gasket leak. The problem was confirmed by a workshop, and after repairs, the car's performance improved significantly.

Air leaks, huh? Where exactly should I be looking? I'm not exactly a mechanic, but I can pop the hood and have a look if I know what to look for.

It's worth a look. My issue was a gasket leak in the intake manifold. It's like trying to run with a pinched straw. You might not see anything obvious, but if the symptoms are what you described, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Engine misfire can be a pain to diagnose yourself.

You were spot on. The workshop confirmed it was the intake manifold. Scorching and a gasket leak. Cost me 1180€ to fix, but the car runs like new now. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Ateca a while back. Jerky acceleration, check engine light, the whole shebang. Have you checked for any obvious air leaks around the intake manifold?
