Seat Ateca Diesel Stalling at Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Seat Ateca with a diesel engine was experiencing stalling at idle and a check engine light. The initial suspicion was a problem with the tank ventilation valve or purge valve. The issue was identified as a clogged hose in the EVAP system, which was confirmed and resolved by a local garage, leading to the vehicle running smoothly again.

EVAP system, eh? I know it's something to do with emissions, but not much beyond that. Where exactly should I be looking for these hoses, and what am I looking for? Any tips on how to check this purge valve?

Okay, well, without getting too technical, a faulty gas cap can prevent the system from sealing properly, leading to leaks and those symptoms. Seeing as you checked the purge valve, it looks like the problem is a clogged hose. It might be a good idea to take it to a workshop.

Big thanks for the help, I appreciate it! Turns out you were spot on. I took my 2021 Seat Ateca to a local garage and they confirmed it was a clogged hose in the EVAP system. New hose fitted and cleared the check engine light, and she's running smoothly again now. Total cost was 175€, which is way better than I was expecting. Happy days!

Hi there, that sounds frustrating. First thought that springs to mind is the EVAP system (Evaporative Emission Control System). Has the gas cap been checked, it can cause similar symptoms ? Is it correctly sealed?
