Seat Ateca Diesel Transmission Issues

My 2017 Seat Ateca diesel with almost 190500 km is throwing errors. The engine warning light is on, and I'm getting error codes related to the transmission sensor. The gearbox goes into emergency mode, and shifting feels rough, sometimes grinding. Could a faulty oil sensor cause this?

It does sound like a faulty transmission sensor. Is the gearbox slipping? Have you checked the transmission oil level? Low oil can cause the oil temperature to rise, explaining the error and emergency mode.

Where is the transmission oil sensor located, and how do I check the oil level on my 2017 Seat Ateca?

Locating the sensor and checking the oil level can be tricky. Given the symptoms, the error code, and the grinding, it's best to get it checked by a workshop. Running it with low oil can seriously damage the transmission. A transmission repair now might save a fortune later.

The workshop visit confirmed low transmission oil. They topped it off, replaced the sensor as a precaution, and the error disappeared. Gear shifting is smooth again! The total cost was 365€.
