Thank you for your input. I did read the error code; it indicates a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. You mentioned a similar issue with your Ateca. Do you recall if the error code you received also pointed to the exhaust temperature sensor specifically, or was it a more generic engine management error?

Yes, now that you mention the specific error code, I vaguely remember it pointing directly to the exhaust temperature sensor. Given that, and the symptoms you described, it does sound like a faulty sensor. A leak in the exhaust could certainly contribute to that. I would recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and replacement. It is tricky to diagnose without proper equipment.

I appreciate the confirmation. The workshop confirmed it was indeed the exhaust temperature sensor, likely due to a small leak in the exhaust system as suspected. The total cost was 265€, which is within the expected range. Thank you for your assistance.

I have a Seat Ateca as well, although I am not sure about the exact year. I experienced similar symptoms some time ago: the check engine light, reduced power, and seemingly increased fuel consumption. I remember the engine management system was acting up. If I recall correctly, it had something to do with an exhaust component, possibly the exhaust sensor itself. Could be related to a faulty temperature sensor as well. Did you try to read the error code?
